Producers to Unveil Second Half of New Media Contract Offer
The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers is set to debut the second half of its contract offer to the Writers Guild of America during Tuesday’s talks, Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood Daily reports.
The WGA is also looking to counteroffer during today’s talks, the blog says.
Ads in today’s Variety and Hollywood Reporter taken out by the AMPTP also suggest a spirit of haggling, telling readers that it hopes to hear what the WGA has to say during its talks, the blog reports.
Kimmel Paying Staff
Low-paid production staff at “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” have been receiving paychecks steadily since the beginning of the writers strike thanks to Mr. Kimmel himself, Deadline Hollywood Daily reports.
The information hasn’t been broadcast too loudly, especially with the announcements of David Letterman, Jay Leno, Jon Stewart and Conan O’Brien cover their respective staffs, the blog says.
Strike Threatening Pilot Development
Unless the Writers Guild of America comes to an agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers by Jan. 1, severe consequences are in store for the upcoming TV pilot season, the Hollywood Reporter says.
If the strike continues past Jan. 1, 25% of the usual amount of pilots made per season would be killed. Past Feb. 1, the percentage doubles to 50%. If the strike lingers even further, it could destroy the 2008 primetime development season and harm May upfront ad sales, the Reporter reports.
‘Colbert Report’ Goes Live During Strike
Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” took the stage at the Upright Citizens Brigade theater Monday night, Broadcasting and Cable reports.
The sold out show “The Colbert Report- On Strike!”, which followed similar live turns of “Saturday Night Live” and “30 Rock,” donated its proceeds to The Actors Fund, the newspaper says.
