iVillage Finds Partner in BlogHer

NBC Universal’s iVillage, the online destination for women, and women’s blogging community BlogHer have entered into a strategic partnership.

As a part of the deal, iVillage will have access to BlogHer’s network of 2,200 blogs for promotional opportunities. In return, iVillage, Oxygen.com and BravoTV.com will feature content from BlogHer on their Web sites.

“This strategic partnership underscores NBC Universal’s serious commitment to invest in the future growth of iVillage and the newly formed Women@NBCU sales initiative. I am incredibly excited to tap into this new online community and super-serve both clients and consumers in today’s robust women’s marketplace,” Lauren Zalaznick, president of women and lifestyle entertainment networks for NBC Universal, said in a statement.

Zalaznick also announced the creation of a female-targeted digital ad sales network as part of Women@NBCU’s strategy. Women@NBCU comprises BravoTV.com, Oxygen.com, Sugar Inc. and iVillage, which holds all the digital properties for Women@NBCU.

Women@NBCU and BlogHer also will work together on joint advertising deals.

“In today’s fragmented market, Women@NBCU digital is uniquely positioned to offer advertisers access to a wide range of women with one-stop shopping,” Peter Naylor, senior vice president of digital media sales for NBC Universal, said in statement. “The BlogHer partnership, in addition to our already robust offering in the women’s digital space, gives us an unparalleled online presence in this key sector of the market.”
