Mun2, E! Step Up to ‘Stand Up to Cancer’

Mun2 and E! Entertainment Television are joining other networks in airing the charity special “Stand Up to Cancer” on Sept. 5 at 8 p.m.

Stand Up to Cancer,” put together by the Entertainment Industry Foundation, will air live simultaneously on ABC, CBS and NBC and will feature appearances by several celebrities and performers in an effort to raise funds for cancer research. CBS Radio also will transmit the program live to more than 400 cities through its radio affiliates.

Mun2, the bilingual Latino youth-oriented channel that is part of NBC Universal’s Telemundo Cable Networks, will dedicate one hour of commercial-free airtime to the show. Mun2 can be seen in more than 24 million U.S. households.

Crash and Yasmin from Mun2’s “The Chicas Project” will participate in the event.

Mun2 General Manager Alex Pels said, “The media plays a powerful role in bringing social, political and now health awareness to our nation. We are very proud to be a part of this great event and are honored to use our network as a vehicle to support the ‘Stand Up to Cancer’ initiative.”

E! will join in to air the one-hour special on Sept. 5. Internationally, it then will run the special in more than 75 countries within 24 hours of its initial broadcast in the U.S.

Ted Harbert, president-CEO of Comcast Entertainment Group, said: “There is not one person whose life hasn’t been affected by cancer in some way, and it is our honor to join in the fight against this disease in all its forms. There is no better way that we can lend our support than to make this message of hope and human determination heard throughout the world via our international network of E! channels.”
