Gustav Leaves Networks Scrambling

Aug 28, 2008  •  Post A Comment

CNN’s Anderson Cooper and other yet-to-be named news network anchors and correspondents will be leaving Denver for New Orleans immediately after Sen. Barack Obama’s acceptance speech tonight, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Tropical Storm Gustav, which is on its way to hurricane status, is predicted to make landfall in or near New Orleans on Friday, which is the third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina’s hitting the city. Networks are scrambling to dispatch anchors and reporters in what is already a heavy news cycle with the Democratic National Convention wrapping up tonight, John McCain’s nominee for vice president announcement Friday in Dayton, Ohio, and the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn., beginning Monday.
