ABC News Plans Inauguration Coverage

ABC News’ coverage of the presidential inauguration on Jan. 20 will begin with a live, three-hour edition of “Good Morning America” at 7 a.m. ET.

Diane Sawyer then will join Charles Gibson and George Stephanopoulos from the Newseum on Pennsylvania Avenue at 10 a.m. ET for Barack Obama’s swearing-in ceremony, his inaugural address and the inaugural parade.

ABC News anchors, correspondents and analysts will contribute to the coverage, reporting from the Washington Mall and along the parade route as well as from President-elect Obama’s ancestral home in Kenya. They also will look back at President George W. Bush’s legacy and at the challenges facing the new administration.

ABC will conclude the evening with a live broadcast of “The Neighborhood Ball: An Inauguration Celebration” at 8 p.m. ET, followed by the special “A Moment in History: The Inauguration of Barack Obama” at 10 p.m. ET. with Mr. Gibson, Ms. Sawyer and Mr. Stephanopoulos.

ABC News Now’s live coverage also will be streaming on ABCNews.com.

CBS recently announced live broadcast and Web coverage plans for the inauguration.
