Peabody Awards Honor ‘Lost’, ‘SNL,’ HBO Shows

ABC’s “Lost,” NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” and HBO’s “Entourage” and “John Adams” are among the television programs being honored with a 2008 Peabody Award.

AMC’s critical darling “Breaking Bad” will also receive a Peabody Award, as will Nick’s “Avator: The Last Air Bender.”

Several of HBO’s documentary films were honored, including “Hear and Now,” “The Gates” and “Nanking.”

The Peabody Awards also singled out Turner Classic Movies for preserving vintage films and staying true to its original mission.

Other award recipients include NBC Olympics and Zhang Yimou for the Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony, CNN for its coverage of the 2008 presidential election and the Web site YouTube, described as “an ever-expanding archive-cum-bulletin board that both embodies and promotes democracy.”
