Networks Not Yet Committed to Carrying Obama’s Wednesday Primetime Address

UPDATE: Since we first published this item, ABC and CBS have decided to broadcast President Barack Obama’s prime time address to the joint sessions of congress.

The broadcast networks haven’t yet committed to carry President Obama’s Wednesday night address on health care reform to a joint session of Congress and at least one, Fox, is most likely to bump the live coverage to sister cable channel Fox News, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Fox had planned to premiere its Wednesday lineup that day, with the launch of “Glee” and the season premiere of “So You Think You Can Dance.”

The networks, which will face considerable schedule disruption, are waiting to hear whether the speech will start at 8 p.m. or 9 p.m.
