On a night of generally down ratings for the broadcast networks, the top-rated show of Monday’s prime time in the key 18-49 demo was the freshman Fox drama “The Following,” TVbytheNumbers.com reports, citing Nielsen overnights.

Fox won the night, narrowly beating ABC in the 18-49 demo. CBS aired mostly repeats for a rare fifth-place finish behind its big four rivals and Spanish-language Univision.

Fox’s “The Following,” which premiered in January, averaged a 2.8 rating in 18-49, equaling its performance last week. “Bones” delivered a 2.2, slipping 4%.

ABC’s two-hour “The Bachelor” was a close second with a 2.7 average in viewers 18-49, falling 7% from a week ago. ABC led out from it with a “Castle” repeat at 10 p.m., settling for a 1.4 but still winning the hour.

NBC got a 2.1 out of its two-hour “Biggest Loser” in the 18-49 demo, off 5% from last week. The drama “Deception” at 10 p.m. equaled its all-time low with a 1.1.

CBS’s only fresh show was “Rules of Engagement,” which hit a season low with a 2.2 in 18-49, off 19% from a week ago.

For prime time overall, Fox led the way with a 2.5 in adults 18-49, followed by ABC (2.3), NBC (1.8), Univision (1.7) and CBS (1.6). Fox also won total viewers, averaging 8.4 million to ABC’s 7.9 million, CBS’s 6.1 million, NBC’s 4.5 million and Univision’s 4.2 million.
