Rosy Outlook for Netflix: How Many Streaming Customers Will the Video Streamer Have in Two Years — and What’s Driving the Surge?

Given its low monthly price and the expansion of Internet-connected devices, Netflix appears poised for subscriber growth and may reach 40 million streaming customers by the end of 2015 — an increase of one-third from its 30 million current customers, the Los Angeles Times reports, citing media analyst Rich Greenfield.

Greenfield wrote that he can "see no reason why" Netflix couldn’t pass the mark of 40 million streaming customers in 2015. Factors helping to boost growth include the service’s $7.99 monthly fee, about half of what cable and satellite customers pay for HBO, and the fact that nothing is needed beyond a high-speed Web connection, the story notes.

The service is also appealing to customers because of its range of content offerings, including high-quality original shows such as "Orange Is the New Black" and "House of Cards," the report notes.
