Who Should Perform on Next Year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show? 50,000 People Have Signed a Petition Saying That It Should Be This Decidedly Non-Mainstream Musician

The halftime shows during the last two Super Bowls have featured such musical stars as Beyonce, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bruno Mars.

Now, if 50,000 petitioners have their way, the musician performing in the Super Bowl halftime show in 2015 will be Weird Al Yankovic, reports Entertainment Weekly.

Says the story, ”Ed Ball created a petition on change.org to have Yankovic play the Super Bowl, and as of Thursday morning, the petition has gotten over 50,000 signatures. ‘The theatrics alone would be hilarious and a welcoming change,’ Ball wrote, ‘and draw a wider audience of fans that typically would not tune into the championship game or halftime show.’”

Yankkovic’s current album, titled “Mandatory Fun,” is his 14th, and is the first album Yankovic has ever had reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
