A Syfy drama series has received a pickup for another season. EW.com’s Inside TV reports that the channel gave a second-season order to the new zombie show “Z Nation.”

The renewal comes as the drama is in the middle of its 13-episode freshman season, which the article notes has “achieved consistent, yet middling ratings since its series premiere.” The series has generally averaged about 1.6 million total viewers.

The show is set in a post-zombie apocalypse America, where a group is trying to transport a zombie-bite survivor to a lab so that a vaccine can be created.

Rotten Tomatoes, where “Z Nation” had a 53% positive rating, said of the show: “Although it’s hampered by an overcrowded narrative, ‘Z Nation’ manages to muster up some fun scares without taking itself too seriously.”
