LAPD Opens Investigation Into Bill Cosby Allegations

Dec 8, 2014  •  Post A Comment

Los Angeles police have opened an investigation into claims that TV icon Bill Cosby molested a woman when she was 15 years old, USA Today and the Associated Press report. The move comes even though many thought the statute of limitations on the alleged crime, which the woman says happened in 1974, had expired.

The report notes that the investigation was opened Friday “after Judy Huth, who is suing Cosby for sexual battery, met with Los Angeles police detectives for 90 minutes.” Huth last week filed a civil suit against the comedian, whose attorneys have countered by accusing Huth of trying to extort him.

The story reports that LAPD Chief Charlie Beck has “urged potential victims of sex abuse by Cosby to speak with detectives, regardless of whether their claims were outside the statute of limitations.”

Meanwhile, Cosby’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame had to be cleaned after it was defaced by the word “Rapist,” the report notes.

  1. Our tax dollars at work. What happened to these women is extremely unfortunate and Cosby’s career is over. These women have civil court suits and Gloria Allred to help them get even with Cosby. We need our tax dollars and the police department investigating and stopping current crimes, and protecting us from current criminals; not wasting time on cases that will likely not be able to meet criminal court scrutiny. The rules are different in civil and criminal court.
