FX has cast two key roles in its much-anticipated project about the O.J. Simpson case. TVLine reports that Cuba Gooding Jr. will play Simpson in “American Crime Story: The People V. OJ Simpson.”

Playing the role of prosecutor Marcia Clark will be Sarah Paulson (“American Horror Story”).

The project is slated for 10 episodes, and billed as the first season of the new FX “American Crime Story” franchise.

Gooding won an Oscar for his performance as Rod Tidwell in the 1996 movie “Jerry Maguire.”

The show, from “American Horror Story” creator Ryan Murphy, received a straight-to-series order earlier this fall. The first installment of what is planned as an anthology of famous crimes will be based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book “The Run of His Life: The People V. O.J. Simpson.”
