PBS’s “American Masters” profiles a magician for the first time in its season premiere on Jan. 23, 2015.

Says PBS, the magician, the multi-talented Ricky Jay, “is also a best-selling author, historian, actor and leading collector of antiquarian books and artifacts. A writer and speaker on subjects as varied as arcane conjuring literature, con games (e.g. dice, poker, etc.) and sense perception, Jay performed a left-field brand of comedy magic in comedy clubs early in his career.”
