Oscar Ratings Update. Report Says Oscarcast ‘Shed 7 Million Viewers’ Compared to Last Year, and Show’s Ratings ‘Dropped 17%’

Says the Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed blog Monday afternoon, about ABC’s Academy Awards telecast on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015, “After metered market ratings brought dips — the year’s show dropped 10 percent, to an average 25 rating among households and a 38 share — final ratings for the series fell 17 percent in the key demographic of adults 18-49 to a 10.8 rating.

“With time zone adjustments for the period of 8:30 p.m. to 11:46 p.m. ET, the audience for the ABC telecast also fell by more than 6 million viewers from the previous year. The live telecast averaged 36.6 million viewers.” It represented a six year low for the Oscar telecast.
