Tragedy: Former ‘Food Network Star’ Finalist, Her Unborn Child and Her Husband Killed. Police Have Charged a Neighbor With Three Counts of First-Degree Murder

Police have charged a man with three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of a woman who was a finalist on the show “Food Network” star, her husband and her unborn child.

“Cristie Schoen, 38, who was a finalist on season eight of “Food Network Star,” her unborn child and her husband, Joseph Codd, 45, have been murdered, according to the sheriff’s office in Bumcombe County, North Carolina,” reports the AP. The biggest city in Buncombe County is Asheville.

A man who was the couple’s neighbor has been charged with first-degree murder in the deaths, reports the Asheville Citizen-Times.

Family members reported the Codds missing on Sunday, according to media reports. As for the motive for the murders, police are still investigating, according to another story in the Citizen-Times.

Here’s the short bio of Cristie that she narrated for her appearance on “Food Network Star.” The season she was on ran during the spring/summer of 2012. At that time she was living in the Los Angeles area, before she and her husband moved to the Asheville area.
