Even before the season three premiere of the acclaimed Netflix series “Orange Is the New Black,” the series has received a vote of confidence from the streaming service. Variety reports that Netflix has picked up the show for a fourth season.
Season three is set to roll out on Netflix June 12, with season four due up in 2016.
The series from “Weeds” creator Jenji Kohan has been making an impact on the awards circuit, including picking up three Primetime Emmys, a Peabody and a Television Critics’ Association Award. In the process it has helped redefine television by elevating the status of the streaming service as it competes with traditional TV outlets.
