A broadcast sitcom has been canceled, with the news of its cancellation accompanied by speculation that the show will head to an online streaming service.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Fox canceled “The Mindy Project” after three seasons on the air. The show has a loyal cult audience but has failed to pull strong ratings.
“There may be second life for Mindy, however, and with a big upside: The show’s producer, Universal Television, is currently in serious talks with Hulu for multiple additional seasons,” the EW story adds. “Hulu is a logical suitor, as it already owns the streaming rights to all of the show’s episodes.”
