Actor Who Played Recurring Characters on ‘Cheers,’ ‘West Wing,’ and ‘Warehouse 13,’– and Who Was Also a Tony-Winner, Dies at 71

The actor who played the English millionaire Robin Colcord, who was romantically interested in Kristie Alley’s Rebecca on the long-running sitcom “Cheers,” has died.

The actor’s name was Roger Rees, a Welshman, who “died at his home in New York City after a brief illness, according to his representative, Rick Miramontez,” according to USA Today. Rees was 71.

He was also known for playing British ambassador Lord John Marbury on “The West Wing” and James MacPherson on Syfy’s popular “Warehouse 13.”

Says USA Today, Rees “won a Tony and an Olivier Award for his role as Nicholas Nickleby in the 1982 Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of ‘The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby.’”

According to Entertainment Weekly, “He is survived by his husband, the playwright Rick Elice.”
