Actress Selma Blair has begun talking about an incident that made headlines earlier this week when she was taken off a plane on a stretcher and hospitalized after a bizarre outburst in mid-flight.

The actress, known for her roles in “Cruel Intentions,” “Legally Blonde” and other movies, apologized for the incident, and also confirmed speculation that she had mixed alcohol and medications.

In a statement provided to Vanity Fair, Blair said: “I made a big mistake yesterday. After a lovely trip with my son and his Dad, I mixed alcohol with medication, and that caused me to black out and led me to say and do things that I deeply regret.”

As we reported previously, Blair was apparently drinking wine on the plane when she began blurting out strange comments such as: “He burns my private parts. He won’t let me eat or drink.”

In her statement she noted that her son was asleep on the plane with headphones on and apparently did not hear any of it.

The statement adds: “I take this very seriously, and I apologize to all of the passengers and crew that I disturbed and am thankful to all of the people who helped me in the aftermath. I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident. I am truly very sorry.”

  1. I wonder who wrote the mea culpa for her. Intelligent people don’t mix drugs and alcohol. Her actions were reprehensible.

    • Yeah… because human beings are all perfect and never have memory lapses, make mistakes, or do anything inadvertently.
