Controversial singer Hank Williams Jr. had another “it’s all about me” moment during the taping of a TV show, culminating in his walking off the stage in the middle of a performance.

The incident happened during Wednesday’s taping of the upcoming CMT Artists of the Year special, set to air Dec. 13 at 9 p.m., reports USA Today. Williams was performing a duet — "Tattoos on This Town" — with Jason Aldean, when he left the stage without explanation.

His publicist later tried to explain the incident by saying Williams wasn’t happy with his performance.

In a subsequent statement, Williams wrote, "I’ve heard people mess up my songs and screw up [Hank Williams Sr.] songs. I was here to honor Jason, a kid I really like. When I walked out there, it didn’t feel right, it didn’t sound right. I didn’t want to disrespect him."

Aldean is one of the five artists honored by CMT in the show. After Williams left before the end of the song, Aldean did a second take, performing the song solo.

Williams made news a couple of months ago when he made some poorly received remarks about President Obama on a Fox News political show and subsequently lost his longstanding job singing the opening song for ESPN’s “Monday Night Football,” as previously reported.
