"The Shield" creator Shawn Ryan and film writer Karl Gajdusek are close to receiving a pilot order from ABC for a new project, reports Deadline.com.

The project, “Last Resort,” is a thriller focusing on the crew of a U.S. nuclear submarine who refuse to shoot nuclear missiles, the story says. They instead escape to a NATO listening outpost and declare themselves the smallest nuclear nation, the piece adds.

The Sony TV-produced project has tapped "Casino Royale" director Martin Campbell to direct the pilot, the story says.
