NBC’s “Father of the Pride” debuted well Tuesday, winning the night among households and all the 18 to 49 demos.
According to Nielsen Media Research’s Fast National Ratings, the special commercial-free premiere of the DreamWorks Television CGI-animated series garnered a 7.0 rating and 13 share among households and a 4.7 rating and 13 share among adults 18 to 49. “Pride” beat out original episodes of CBS’s “Amazing Race” (5.9/9) and Fox’s “Trading Spouses” (4.8/8), as well as repeats of ABC’s “According to Jim” (4.5/7), The WB’s “One Tree Hill” (1.4/2) and UPN’s “The Player” (1.0/2).
“Pride” won the night among women 18 to 49 (5.3/14) and men 18 to 49 (4.1/12), and grew substantially over its lead-in, “Last Comic Standing,” which premiered in the time period with a 4.5 rating and 8 share in households. The season premiere of “Scrubs” did not fare so well, posting a 3.4/9 in adults 18 to 49, a 28 percent decline from its “Pride” lead-in.
“Pride’s” premiere was down 6 percent from last year’s season premiere of “Frasier” in the same time slot in the adults 18 to 49 demo (5.0/13 on Sept. 23, 2003). NBC is scheduled to rerun “Pride’s” debut episode Thursday at 9:30 p.m. and Saturday at 8 p.m.
Although CBS took a slight lead of 5.0/8 to win the night in households, edging out NBC’s 4.8/8 and Fox’s 4.3/7, the three networks were virtually tied in the adults 18 to 49 demo (3.0/8), with Fox skating by with a 3.0 rating and 9 share. ABC came in fourth for the night among households (4.1/7) and adults 18 to 49 (2.0/6).
CBS won the 10 p.m. hour with its convention coverage, garnering a 3.9/6 among households to NBC’s 3.8/6 and ABC’s 2.9/5.
