NATAS Names Technology/Engineering Emmy Winners

The National Academy of Arts and Sciences will hold its 57th annual Technology and Engineering Emmys Awards Sept. 29 at Bristol-Myers Squibb in Princeton, N.J.

The award winners include:

  • Ampex and ABC for slow-motion color recording and playback for broadcast

  • ABC, PBS and the Consumer Electronics Association for closed-caption standardization

  • The WB and IBM for pioneering development of locally integrated and branded content using IP Store and forward technology

  • Canon, Fujinon and Angeniux for lens technology developments for solid-state imagers cameras in high-definition formats

    In some categories, the winners still are to be announced.

    The nominees for achievement in advanced media technology for the enhancement of original television content are: DirecTV’s “Sports Mix”; PGATour.com’s “TOURCast” and; TV Land, Nick at Nite and Zetools for “2005 TV Land Awards, All Access Pass.”

    The nominees for achievement in advanced media technology for the nonsynchronous enhancement of original television content are: Operation: B.E.S.T. and Cartoon Network’s “Codename: Kids Next Door”; the DirecTV Interactive Service; EAT.tv and LLC/ Scripps Networks’ ImageGuide/www.living.com; and Comcast’s Free On Demand.

    The nominees for achievement in advanced media technology for the creation of nontraditional programs or platforms are: Digeo’s Moxi Media Center: New Features for 2005; NewTek TriCaster; and EchoStar/DISH Network’s 2004 election coverage.
