Showtime has renewed its suburban comedy “Weeds” for a second season, the network announced Tuesday.

The announcement comes on the heels of the show’s three Golden Globe nominations, including one for best comedy or musical series. The second season will consist of 12 episodes and will debut in summer 2006.
