Data from Nielsen is being used to detect potential terrorist attacks, and not just on shows like “24,” a Neislen executive said, according to MediaPost. Former media buyer Jon Mandel, now president of Nielsen Connect, said one way the government is using its data is to track prescription data to alert it to a possible biological attack. Some new Nielsen numbers can also be useful to marketers, he added.
