Jimmy Fallon is set to be named Conan O’Brien’s replacement on “Late Night,” according to NBC insiders, with the deal expected to be officially announced soon, according to Daily Variety. Mr. Fallon has been the only real candidate for the job since February 2007, when it was reported that the former “Saturday Night Live” star had quietly signed a holding deal for the host job when Mr. O”Brien succeeds Jay Leno. A new round of reports, touched off by foxnews.com, may make it difficult for NBC to stick to its plan to wait to announce its late night evolution until its upfront event in May.
