KHAS Hastings, Neb., has already executed its DTV transition with very few problems, TVNewsday reports. The NBC affiliate has been broadcasting exclusively in 1080i digital format and 5.1 surround sound, though it still has not originated any high-definition programming, the site says. Of the phone calls the station has received since the Dec. 1 switch, none of them came from viewers who had neither a converter box nor a built-in tuner, reflecting the success of local DTV switch preparations, TVNewsday says.
