Rosie O’Donnell, Scott Carlin, Dick Robertson: Syndication Powerhouse Back with New ‘Rosie’ Show

Rosie O’Donnell will attempt to return to daytime talk in fall 2011, and while she has some heavy hitters behind her, don’t look for a major studio backer or even a syndication home, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Roger Friedman’s Showbiz411 (Part of the THR) was the first to report the news, and THR adds details. O’Donnell is reuniting for the show with Scott Carlin, former head of HBO Domestic Distribution, and Dick Robertson, the former president of Warner Bros. Domestic TV Distribution, where he handled sales of O’Donnell’s earlier “The Rosie O’Donnell Show.” Carlin also worked on sales of the O’Donnell show at Warner Bros. before joining HBO.

The three will independently produce the new program.

THR says the new show is an unlikely replacement for “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” which ends its run at the same time. Not only do some ABC stations already have other options to replace “Oprah,” but they were not always enamored of O’Donnell towards the end of her prior run, as the host turned more political and outspoken. Some in the business suggested the show will land a cable home.

  1. Funny thing about Rosie no one misses her on TV. If I want to see a raving manic I just go to work. She doesn’t deserve to have a new show.

  2. Rosie’s time came, she blew it and now it is for sure gone.
Take care of your kids and save your money, Ms. “O”.
