Reality Star’s Year Included Failure of Talk Show, String of Lawsuits and Controversies — Including Alleged Staging of ‘Lost at Sea’ Stunt — So What’s She Up to Now?

With a string of controversies hammering her media empire, and with her talk show plans dashed because no major TV stations were interested, 2011 was a tough year for Bravo reality star Bethenny Frankel.

So what’s her next move? She’s continuing to tape her reality show, "Bethenny Ever After," reports the New York Post.

As previously reported, Frankel’s syndicated plans were scrapped after her talk show failed to attract a major station group — even though Frankel is familiar to daytime audiences through her appearances giving advice on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

Frankel has been making headlines regularly, but many of them have been negative. “Bethenny Ever After” was sued over the use of a Malibu beachfront house, as we reported in November. In October Forbes magazine recalculated the star’s wealth after she was accused of vastly overstating the value of her Skinnygirl Margarita mix brand — with the sale of that brand also igniting a $100 million lawsuit earlier this year.

The Skinnygirl brand also got pulled from the shelves of some stores after a controversy erupted over claims about the line’s so-called natural ingredients.

Then there was the “lost at sea” drama. The Post story reports: “Back in October, reports surfaced that she staged a ‘lost at sea’ scenario to add drama to ‘Bethenny Ever After.’ Frankel referred to the claim as ‘idiocy’ on Twitter, while a Bravo spokesperson was quoted as saying that she, her husband and their therapist were, in fact, stranded after their boat navigation system broke.”

Anyway, Frankel was busy this week shooting upcoming footage for “Bethenny Ever After” on New York’s Upper East Side, the Post reported.
