A health emergency that brought paramedics to actress Demi Moore’s house earlier this week is now being reported as related to substance problems, according to TMZ.com.
Paramedics were called to her home late Monday, and she was taken to a nearby hospital, according to media reports. TMZ cites sources saying a friend of Moore told emergency personnel that Moore was doing whip-its — a street name for a nitrous oxide inhalant.
Moore reportedly lapsed into a semi-conscious state in reaction to a whip-it.
The TMZ report notes: “A whip-it is not a common drug among people of Demi’s age and social status. It’s typically used by younger people who are looking for a cheap thrill.”
The publication reported that Moore was placed in a facility to “seek further professional assistance,” and adds that sources have indicated the treatment involves substance abuse.
As reported previously, a rep for Moore attributed the incident to “exhaustion.”
