Comedian Jerry Lewis was rushed to the hospital shortly before he was scheduled to appear at the Waldorf Astoria hotel to present Tom Cruise with a Friars Club award, reports the New York Post’s Page Six.

The 86-year-old entertainer reportedly collapsed with low blood sugar shortly before he was set to go on stage in front of hundreds of people, the piece notes. Lewis himself was set to receive the Applause Award, and was scheduled to give Cruise the Friars Club Entertainment Icon Award.

It’s believed that Lewis was released from the hospital and was resting in a Manhattan hotel room last night, the story notes. Representatives for Lewis couldn’t be reached and the Friars Club declined to comment, the piece adds.
