“Ugly Betty” showrunner Silvio Horta signed a two-year, multi-million dollar agreement with ABC that will keep him on the show and allow him to create other projects for the network, Daily Variety reports. Disney-owned ABC extended the show for a third season and will air five more episodes this season, the newspaper says. Additionally, China broadcaster Hunan Television bought the rights to the series and will rename its version “Invincible Ugly Woman,” Variety says. The show originated as a Colombian telenovella called “Yo soy Betty, la fea.”
