A Federal Communications Commission auction of governmental airwaves fetched a record $19.6 billion, though the section of airwaves committed to an emergency network didn’t receive the minimum bid required by the FCC, the Associated Press reports. The FCC won’t reveal the identity of the bid winners for at least three weeks, the wire service says.
