Malvin Wald, who co-wrote the 1948 crime film “The Naked City,” died in Sherman Oaks, Calif., at age 90, the New York Times reports. The film, Oscar-nominated for its screenwriting, was the basis for a television spinoff that ran from 1958 to 1963 and was the prototype for other police dramas such as “Dragnet” and “Hill Street Blues,” the newspaper says.
