Fox News is reporting that former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Jimmy Fallon has all but clinched the spot Conan O’Brien will leave open in 2009. Although Mr. O’Brien’s installation as the new host of NBC’s “Tonight Show” depends on Jay Leno’s forced retirement actually taking effect, an unnamed source told Fox’s Roger Friedman that NBC will announce the move at the upfront in early May. Mr. Leno, for his part, is rumored to be in talks to host ABC’s “Nightline” following his departure from “Tonight.”

  1. guess ABC will be my new home for latenight in the future… Leno + Kimmel will be great..

  2. I like Conan, but I think NBC’s late night lineup has peaked and will be on the downfall. Kimmel and Leno looks like late night’s newest source for those 7 million Leno viewers.

  3. Don’t assume Kimmel stays put. I see Leno post-nightline and Kimmel hopping over to Fox to host their late night effort.

  4. Great post!
