Moonves Backs Couric

Apr 18, 2008  •  Post A Comment

CBS President-CEO Leslie Moonves made a surprise visit to the CBS newsroom to bolster embattled “Evening News” anchor Katie Couric, according to the AP. An anonymous staffer present at the pep talk said Mr. Moonves and CBS News & Sports President Sean McManus dropped in on a weekly producers meeting to reiterate that there are no plans for any personnel changes, according to the AP. They also said that, should Couric’s job come up for review, the proceedings will be held long after the 2008 presidential election. The staffer mentioned Mr. McManus’ frustration with the recent furor in the press, which erupted after Ms. Couric’s low ratings led to rumors of an early termination of her CBS News contract.

  1. Moonves should be escorted out of Black Rock, handed a file box with his personal crap and be told, “never come back”.
Ms Couric should be reassigned and replaced this week as Anchor of The CBS Evening News. Katie has many wonderful attributes and can do a lot for the news entity…but not at the anchor desk.
The ratings are not her fault.
