PBS Report Examines Worldwide Healthcare

PBS’s “Sick Around the World,” which airs tonight, examines how healthcare in countries such as Japan, Germany and Taiwan includes universal coverage that is cheaper and more effective than U.S. healthcare, the New York Times reports. The hour-long show features Washington Post reporter T.R. Reid travelling to these countries to observe their health-care systems, the newspaper says.

  1. If I’m correct, “TVO” or “tvOnterio”, as it once was called, aired something similar as their “Summer Films” series, last year (2007). Although it wasn’t really “films” as much as documentaries.
Funny how Ideas NEVER come from the USA… but from other “liberal” places. Hmmmm!

  2. EG,
Interesting observation, many US ‘Idea Imports’
(or Idea ‘Bogarts’) come to mind; The Office, Traffic and the superficial, ‘Ho-Hum’ Hollywood remake of Luc Besson’s La Femme Nikita…
This PBS piece looks interesting and I’ll check it out but I wonder – Are studios, media/production companies scared of taking the risk to develop original material and innovative ideas from experienced or new writers?
Or are they just playing it really safe in the wake of the writers strike, sagging economy and overall ad slump?
Repetitive, mind-numbing reality TV clutter is making me avoid network television – can we export some of this crap from our programming schedules?

  3. PPC Revenge 2.0- This really certainly a lovely write. An posting such as this presents exactly how greatly the idea is actually believed by the publisher.

  5. Kudos to you! This is a really good blog here and I love your style of writing. How did you get so good at blogging?
