FCC Chairman Kevin Martin has approached TV stations in at least 10 markets to switch to digital TV service months ahead of the Feb. 17 deadline, reports TVNewsday.com. Martin wants to test the DTV conversion by using the stations as guinea pigs, says the Web site. So far, broadcasters have been reluctant to cut off their analog signals ahead of the scheduled deadline for fear of confusing and losing viewers, particularly during the upcoming election season, notes the Web site.
