Walt Disney’s cable and broadcast networks saw income rise in the second quarter despite lower ratings and advertising revenues during the writers strike, Media Daily News reports. International sales of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Lost” drove the broadcast group’s net operating income up 17% to $223 million, the Web site says. The cable group rose 14% to $1.1 billion with the help of ESPN affiliate revenues and investments in Lifetime and A&E, the Web site notes.
