FCC Rules ‘TMZ’ Is News

May 2, 2008  •  Post A Comment

The Federal Communications Commission has ruled that Telepictures Productions’ “TMZ” program is a news show, Broadcasting & Cable reports. As a news show, the program is not required, as licensees are by the FCC, to offer equal airtime to all political candidates running for office when featuring one candidate, the newspaper notes. The FCC also ruled that news segments and interviews on Christian Broadcasting Network’s “The 700 Club” fall under the category of news programming, the newspaper says.
