L.A. Screenings Fail to Attract U.K. Buyers

May 30, 2008  •  Post A Comment

British buyers did not buy any new U.S. programs at the L.A. Screenings due to the lack of finished pilots and the move by networks toward year-round programming and sales, Daily Variety reports. The days of frenzied buying appear to be over; U.K. buyers will have to keep an eye on U.S. programming throughout the year, something they already do thanks to the rise of cable shows, the newspaper notes. An ITV executive noted the lack of early sales deals may have an impact on production of expensive pilots and studio revenues, the newspaper says.
