More Detroit viewers watched their hockey team play for the Stanley Cup on TV than tuned in to see if their basketball team would get into the NBA Finals, the New York Times reports. The Detroit Red Wings’ loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins was broadcast on NBC, while the Detroit Pistons game against the Boston Celtics was shown on cable channel ESPN, contributing to the NHL’s victory over the NBA.
