CBS Talked to Olbermann Before Couric Hire

CBS met with MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann twice about replacing Dan Rather as anchor of the “CBS Evening News” before hiring Katie Couric, the New York Times reports, citing a New Yorker article set fore release today. Then-CBS News President Andrew Heyward wasn’t convinced that Olbermann’s reputation for opinion pieces was appropriate for CBS, the newspaper says, citing the New Yorker.
