Hollywood Labor Spat: A Sweaty July?

Jun 18, 2008  •  Post A Comment

On July 1, when the Screen Actors Guild contract expires, on-screen talent and the media companies will move into terra incognita, Daily Variety reports. While the union hasn’t held a strike authorization vote, and tradition dictates that actors keep working without a contract, several questions arise after the deal lapses, the paper says. For instance: a no-lockout clause is no longer in effect and grievance and arbitration requirements go dormant. Sources on both sides of the table say resolution of the dispute is at least a few more weeks away, Variety notes.
