More Channels, But Fewer Viewed

Jun 6, 2008  •  Post A Comment

Nielsen’s annual “Television Audience” report found that the percentage of TV channels watched has fallen to its lowest number since the 1980s, Media Daily News reports. Only 16 channels were viewed in 2007 despite the number of average channels hitting a high of 118.6, the Web site says. Increasing media fragmentation has expanded the number of offered channels, although Nielsen does not yet account for online microchannels, video-on-demand and pay-per-view services in its report, the Web site notes.
