Obama Opposes Reinstating Fairness Doctrine

Sen. Barack Obama’s press secretary, Michael Ortiz, said the presidential candidate “does not support reimposing the Fairness Doctrine on broadcasters,” calling it a distraction from talking about opening up airwaves to a diversity of voices, Broadcasting & Cable reports. Instead, Sen. Obama supports media-ownership caps, network neutrality, public broadcasting and increasing minority ownership of media outlets, Ortiz wrote in an e-mail, the newspaper says.
