ABC News Report Ups Oil Prices

An ABC News report about a possible Israeli attack on Iran has been blamed for a recent spike in crude oil prices, Reuters reports. A report by ABC News senior national security correspondent Jonathan Karl on Monday night’s “World News With Charles Gibson” featured a claim by an unidentified official that Israel wanted to destroy an Iranian nuclear facility, the wire service says. Investors went into a panic, fearing further armed conflicts that could crimp the supply of oil in the Middle East. That resulted in crude oil prices rising a few dollars to over $142 a barrel, the wire service notes.
