The International Olympic Committee has announced that broadcasters will be able to transmit live by satellite from around Beijing and Tiananmen Square, Reuters reports. Broadcasters were previously in the dark about whether they’d be able to film live transmissions during the Olympics because China has not been forthcoming with licenses, the wire service says. Cultural relic sites like the Great Wall and the Forbidden City will require permission and non-rights holders will be limited to pre-recorded interviews at Tiananmen Square, while rights holders will be granted exclusive permission to transmit live from Tiananmen Square at certain times of day, the wire service notes.
