“The Late Late Show’s” Craig Ferguson, who became a U.S. citizen in February, will read the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence from the Old State House in Boston, in addition to giving a speech at Boston’s Independence Day celebration, the morning of July 4, TelevisionWeek reports. Ferguson will host CBS’ “Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular” later that night, the newspaper notes.

What a great honor for a funny and forthright guy. Hoot, mon! I might forget the local fireworks pageants and tune in.

Congrats Craig! You are the best for this honor-being a new citizen and all. Top notch show too-better than those other late show guys. I’m hoping that Letterman will retire soon and hand the torch to you. You are both intelligent and creative AND what a sense of humor. I’ll be watching Friday night.
